TotalEnergies Quality and Safety

TotalEnergies Quality & Safety Management

At TotalEnergies, we have an ongoing commitment both to the quality of our products and to the safety of consumers and the wider world. To these ends, we have a range of projects and targets that support both quality and all aspects of safety.

REACH

To improve chemical handling safety, the EU introduced the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation in 2007. REACH is intended to guarantee superior protection for human health and environmental safety by ensuring that anyone tasked with handling chemicals knows all the hazards of the substances they're working with.

ISO 9001 & ISO 14000

What is ISO 9001 specifically? It is a set of standards representing an international consensus on good quality management practices. The ISO 14000 set of standards is similar to ISO 9001, but relates more particularly to environmentally sound quality management.

STANDARDS AND LUBRICATION STANDARDS

Standards of lubricant performance and characteristics are monitored by various organizations. These include:

  • API, the American Petroleum Institute

  • ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association
  • SAE, the American Society of Automobile Engineers.

These organizations evaluate lubricants against specific standards, such as the SAE classification of lubricants.

USED OILS

Used oils need to be disposed of responsibly. They can be purified and re-used, as is typically done with so-called clear oils. Heavily contaminated dark oils can either be recycled or incinerated to generate energy.
